Agboola Ajayi, former Ondo Deputy Governor
Former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and PDP candidate in the November 2024 governorship election, Agboola Ajayi, has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ajayi formally returned to the APC on Tuesday at Apoi Ward 2, Kiribo, in Ese Odo Local Government Area, his hometown.
He left the APC in June 2020 and joined the PDP due to differences with the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, under whom he served as deputy.
Speaking in Igbekebo, Ese Odo headquarters, Ajayi pledged full support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s EASE agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
He called his return a homecoming to his original party, allowing him to contribute to the APC’s growth and Ondo’s progress.

“In politics, disagreements, campaigns, propaganda and blackmail happen,” Ajayi said. “But the bigger picture is the Nigeria project. We must unite to add value to the system.
“Myself and Governor Aiyedatiwa have spoken. We campaigned against each other, but beyond that, the nation comes first. I commend President Tinubu for his bold reforms.”
The move strengthens the APC in Ondo State following Ajayi’s loss to Aiyedatiwa in the 2024 poll and his later withdrawal of a Supreme Court challenge.
