Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted 347.5 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, at the Apapa Port in Lagos.
The illicit drugs were discovered concealed inside a Toyota Sienna imported as part of a consignment containing four vehicles, the command disclosed in a statement on Tuesday signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman.
According to the statement, the seizure occurred less than 24 hours after the Apapa Customs Area Comptroller, Emmanuel Oshoba, received a World Customs Organisation (WCO) Certificate of Merit.
Customs officials found the drugs packed in 13 bags, comprising ten 25kg bags, one 29kg bag, and two bags weighing 34.5kg and 34kg, bringing the total to 347.5kg.

The interception marks the fourth major joint drug seizure by the NCS and NDLEA at Apapa Port within two months, highlighting intensified enforcement and inter-agency collaboration.
Oshoba warned that criminal attempts to smuggle prohibited items through the port would continue to be detected and disrupted, adding that the command remains committed to protecting national security.
He noted that intelligence sharing between the NCS and NDLEA has significantly strengthened operations and disclosed that the planned deployment of a 200-container-per-hour drive-through scanner would further boost technology-driven anti-smuggling efforts.

The seized drugs have been formally handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.
The Comptroller added that the operation aligns with the 2026 International Customs Day theme, “Customs Protecting Society Through Vigilance and Commitment.”
