Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, marking a significant step in his political journey.
Abubakar completed his registration on Monday at Gwadabawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area, where he was welcomed by party leaders and supporters. Expressing gratitude for the reception, he described the turnout as encouraging and reaffirmed his commitment to the party.
“All you can see is that these people have come out to support me, and I am very thankful,” Abubakar said. He acknowledged the support of party leaders at various levels, including the state executive, women and youth leaders, and the ward chairman.
“I want to thank the people of Adamawa. I am proud of you. I am a son to you. By the grace of God, this journey we are on will go very far,” he added, signaling optimism about his political future.

Abubakar’s temporary APC membership slip confirms his registration details in Yola North Local Government Area, Gwadabawa Ward.
His father, Atiku Abubakar, earlier described his son’s political choice as a personal decision guided by individual conscience. He emphasized that differing political affiliations within families are a normal feature of a democratic society.
The registration comes months after Atiku formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which he contested the presidency multiple times. He later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is now building support through an ADC-led coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
