Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named three Nigerians — Victor Osimhen, Calvin Bassey, and Ademola Lookman — in its Best XI for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The announcement came Wednesday, three days after the tournament ended in Morocco, with the list dominated by players from Nigeria, Senegal, and Morocco.
Osimhen, who played six games for the Super Eagles, scored four goals as Nigeria secured the bronze medal. Galatasaray forward Lookman had the most goal contributions in the competition, scoring three times and providing four assists.

Defender Calvin Bassey, now with Fulham, was a key figure in Nigeria’s defence. He played all minutes in the six matches, helping the team keep three clean sheets, though he missed the third-place play-off due to suspension.

Senegal, the tournament winners, and Morocco, runners-up, also had strong representation, with four players each making the CAF Best XI.
