Presidency dismisses claims of a change in Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
The Presidency has denied reports circulating on social media that Femi Gbajabiamila has been replaced as Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, describe the claims as false and misleading, urging Nigerians to disregard them entirely.
The reports had suggested that President Tinubu replaced Gbajabiamila with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, a claim the Presidency firmly rejected.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story,” Onanuga said. “The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.”
According to the statement, the report was a fabrication by purveyors of fake news, allegedly aimed at creating division within the government.
The Presidency also cautioned media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing, stressing the importance of responsible reporting in the digital age.
