Commuters board a Lagos Blue Line train as LAMATA extends operations ahead of The Experience 2025.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has extended operating hours on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, to accommodate the large crowd expected for The Experience 2025, one of the world’s biggest gospel concerts.
The annual event, held on the first Friday of December, drew hundreds of thousands of worshippers to Lagos Island.
Founded in 2006 by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church, the concert features leading gospel artists from Nigeria and across the world.
In a statement signed by the agency’s Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, LAMATA says the Blue Line will run beyond its usual closing time on Friday, to manage increased passenger traffic before and after the concert.
According to the statement, services on Friday, 5 December 2025, will be extended until 11:43 pm, compared with the regular closing time of 9:30 pm. Operations will also commence earlier than usual on Saturday, beginning at 4:00 am to aid post-event movement.
LAMATA added that the LRMT Red Line will operate its regular weekday schedule on Friday, running from 6:00 am to 10:00 amand 5:20 pm to 8:40 pm. The Red Line does not operate on Saturdays.
The agency said both lines will return to their normal timetables from Sunday, 7 December 2025.
LAMATA advised passengers attending The Experience 2025 to take advantage of the adjusted transport schedule and ensure they travel with their Cowry Cards for seamless access.
The authority also urged commuters to follow station guidance and cooperate with officials to ensure safe and efficient travel throughout the event weekend.
