Award-winning singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that his greatest fear is poverty, describing it as a life experience he never wants to revisit.
Speaking during a recent interview on the Nancy Isime Show, Mr P stated that he is unafraid of death but the thought of returning to financial hardship terrifies him.

Recounting his childhood, the singer shared a vivid account of living in extreme conditions. He recalled that his family’s single-room apartment was demolished after the landlord sold the property, forcing him, his parents, and seven siblings—six boys and two girls—to share a cramped space divided only by a curtain.
“I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke. I have tasted it before,” Mr P said.
“We were living in a boys’ quarter, me, my mum, my dad, all of us. The whole family, six boys and two girls, living in a one-bedroom apartment. They had to divide the room with a curtain. The landlord sold the compound, and while we were still in the building, a bulldozer came and started demolishing the house.”
Mr P’s candid revelation offers a glimpse into the struggles that shaped his determination and work ethic, illustrating how his early experiences continue to influence his drive for success.
