Two members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing prolonged internal disputes and weak party leadership.
Shamsudeen Hassan Basko, who stands for Talata-Mafara North, and Nura Dahiru of Birnin-Magaji, submitted their separate resignation letters dated 3 December. The letters were read during plenary by the Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki.
Hassan said lasting factional disputes, poor coordination, and the marginalization of party members at the state and local levels made it impossible for him to remain in the APC. He added that remaining in the party no longer aligned with his political values or the interests of his constituents.
Dahiru said his exit would enable him to pursue political platforms that better reflect the priorities of the people he represents.
Both lawmakers thanked the APC for past opportunities and asked that their letters be accepted as formal notices of withdrawal.
