Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped at least 10 people from Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, Channels TV reports on Thursday.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, with Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun saying the abductions occurred on Wednesday evening.
“On November 26, 2025, at about 8 pm, a report was received indicating that suspected armed men abducted about ten persons from Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages of Shiroro Local Government Area,” Abiodun told Channels TV. “Effort is being made to rescue the victims.”

Earlier on the same day, Kakuru community in Erena Ward witnessed another attack, during which a blind man was reportedly brutalised and had his right hand severed by bandits who stole his mobile phone. The victim is currently receiving first aid at a patent medicine shop in Kuduru community.
Residents of Palaita community, also in Erena Ward, reported a separate attack on a local rice farm, claiming that up to 24 people, including pregnant women, were abducted.
These attacks come less than a week after armed men stormed St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area, abducting over 300 students and 12 teachers, marking one of the worst school kidnappings in recent years.
Authorities have intensified security operations across affected communities, but residents continue to express fear over the escalating wave of kidnappings and violent attacks in Niger State.
