The Nigerian Army has officially released the list of shortlisted candidates for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026 Selection Board. The full list is now accessible on the Army’s recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng.
In a statement signed by the Military Secretary (Army) on Monday, the Army instructed all successful applicants to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna State, on December 1, 2025. Candidates are advised to arrive in Kaduna on November 30, 2025, and report to the Selection Board venue between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Those arriving after 11:00 a.m. will be automatically disqualified.
The statement outlined mandatory requirements for candidates, including original and photocopies of academic and professional certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, birth certificate, state of origin certificate, BVN printout, NIN slip, and completed forms from the SSCC portal. Candidates are also required to bring writing materials, blue shorts, white T-shirts, white canvas shoes, toiletries, beddings, full-size colored photographs, and scratch cards for WAEC or NECO results verification.
Parents or guardians must provide a duly signed Letter of Consent from a recognized court of law, confirming they will not seek compensation for any injury or death during the exercise.
The selection process will include document verification, physical and medical tests, academic assessments, and oral interviews. Any document alterations will automatically render candidates ineligible.
While the Nigerian Army will provide accommodation and meals during the exercise, candidates are responsible for their transportation. Private vehicles and visits from outsiders are strictly prohibited throughout the exercise.
The Army emphasised that a high level of discipline is mandatory. “Candidates who violate any instruction during the Selection Board will be disqualified. Due to the military nature of the exercise, the Nigerian Army shall not be liable for any injuries or deaths recorded in the course of the Selection Board,” the statement added.
