Bauchi State orders immediate closure of all schools amid security threats affecting students and staff.
The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the state, including federal and private schools, citing rising security threats.
A statement from the Ministry of Education, signed by Information and Public Relations Officer Jalaludeen Usman, said the decision followed extensive consultations and emphasised that the safety of students, teachers, and school communities is the government’s top priority.
“However, the protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear,” the statement said.
Parents, guardians, and school proprietors were urged to remain calm and cooperative, while authorities said they are working closely with security agencies to resolve the situation and ensure that normal academic activities resume once it is safe.
The government also called on citizens to remain vigilant, urging timely reporting of suspicious activities to help safeguard communities. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
