United Nigeria Airlines has officially accepted the public apologies issued by social media influencers Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Atsepoyi, also called Mr Jollof, after their in-flight confrontation earlier in the week.
The altercation, which happened on Monday during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport, drew widespread public attention and renewed conversations about unruly passenger behaviour and its implications for aviation safety in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, United Nigeria Airlines confirmed that both individuals had reached out through their respective social media platforms to apologise for the disruption.
“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on 17 November 2025,” the airline said.
The statement added that the company has taken note of their public commitments “to refrain from any conduct that could compromise aviation safety, order, or decorum onboard United Nigeria Airlines flights or any other airline.”
“We trust that this undertaking will be honoured in the interest of maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment for all passengers,” the airline stated.
United Nigeria Airlines also reaffirmed its support for the Airline Operators of Nigeria and relevant aviation regulators as the industry intensifies efforts to curb disruptive behaviour onboard flights.
The airline urged passengers to cooperate with cabin crew, airport authorities, and security agencies, stressing that maintaining safety and order is essential to protecting Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
