The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment for terrorism.
Delivering judgment, Justice James Omotosho sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment on counts one, four, five, and six, while opting against the death penalty.
For count three, Kanu was handed 20 years imprisonment, and for count seven, five years, all without the option of a fine. The judge said all sentences shall run concurrently.
Justice Omotosho said: “I hereby sentence the convict to life imprisonment for counts one, four, five, and six, instead of the death sentence… all sentences shall run concurrently.”
