Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kebbi State on the directive of President Bola Tinubu to personally engage state authorities and the families of students kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
A statement from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, confirmed that Shettima will meet with Governor Nasiru Idris, traditional rulers, security commanders, and parents of the abducted girls to review ongoing search and rescue efforts.
“President Tinubu had specifically directed the Vice President to assure the people of Kebbi State that the Federal Government will ensure the quick and safe release of the abducted girls,” Nkwocha said.

The Vice President is also tasked with delivering the President’s condolences over the recent security challenges in the state and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to safeguarding schools across Nigeria.
Shettima is accompanied by key federal officials, including APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Bernard Doro, Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency Zubaida Umar.
One of the abducted students reportedly managed to escape, while local hunters and security operatives continue search operations in surrounding communities. The incident has heightened national concern over persistent banditry and attacks on educational institutions across Nigeria’s northwest region.
