The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a public warning over a fraudulent message circulating across social platforms, falsely claiming that the Student Loan Registration Portal is currently open.
The fake message directs unsuspecting applicants to an unauthorised third-party link — http://gvly.xyz/Nelfund-Student-Loan — which NELFUND describes as dangerous and misleading.
In a notice shared on its X handle on Tuesday, the agency cautioned students and the general public against clicking the link or submitting personal information through it. NELFUND stressed that genuine loan applications can only be processed through its official website and verified communication channels.

The organisation urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious messages or links impersonating the Fund.
“Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” the statement read.
NELFUND added that the advisory is part of its broader efforts to protect students from online scams and maintain the integrity of the national student loan application system.
