Nnamdi Kanu tells Abuja court he is ready to begin his defence, lists prominent political and security figures among 23 witnesses in his treason trial.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has scheduled November 20 for judgment in the terrorism case involving Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The judge fixed the date on Friday, following Kanu’s failure to open his defence after exhausting the six days allocated to him by the court.
Justice Omotosho noted that the defendant had been given ample time to present his case but chose not to, stressing that Kanu could no longer claim denial of his constitutional right to fair hearing.
Kanu, who faces terrorism-related charges filed by the Federal Government, had earlier named several high-profile Nigerians, including Nyesom Wike, David Umahi, and Tukur Buratai — among his proposed defence witnesses.

The court’s judgment on November 20 is expected to determine whether the IPOB leader will be convicted or acquitted after years of a highly politicized trial that has drawn both local and international attention.
