The People’s Republic of China has lauded the Federal Government of Nigeria for the successful rescue of four Chinese nationals kidnapped in Kwara State, describing the operation as “swift and intelligence-led.”
The commendation was delivered by Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, during the formal handover of the rescued citizens at the Department of State Services (DSS) medical facility in Abuja on Sunday. Represented at the event by the embassy’s Consul, Wang Jun, the ambassador praised the DSS, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and the Nigerian military for their coordinated efforts.
“Following their rescue, DSS operatives immediately took our citizens to their facility for medical evaluation. Then they were thoroughly examined by the best professionals before moving them to our embassy in Abuja,” said Wang Jun.

The rescued Chinese nationals—Dansu Zhou, Zhou Hai, Zhou Jia Jun, and Fan Xiu Guo—were abducted on Saturday while traveling to a mining site in Saminaka village, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State, by a gang of seven armed bandits wielding AK-47 rifles.
The joint security operation, involving the DSS, ONSA, Nigerian Army, and Police, successfully recovered the miners unharmed. The Chinese delegation also commended the DSS medical facility in Abuja for providing state-of-the-art care, noting that it significantly contributed to the rapid recovery and well-being of the rescued citizens.
The ambassador’s praise underscores the strengthening security cooperation between China and Nigeria, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence-led operations in safeguarding foreign nationals.
