LAUTECH Teaching Hospital doctors suspend two-month strike, citing Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to resolving welfare and equipment challenges.
Health services will resume at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, after doctors suspended their two-month strike on Wednesday.
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) said the decision followed assurances by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who visited the hospital on Tuesday, September 30, promising to address their demands.

In a letter to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olakulehin Olawale, the doctors confirmed that full clinical duties would resume from 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 2.
“On behalf of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, we formally notify the management of the suspension of our two-month industrial action,” the letter signed by ARD President, Dr. Adedokun Stephen, and General Secretary, Dr. Mustapha Adedapo, read.
“This decision was reached in honour of the visit of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and in recognition of his sincere commitment to resolving our longstanding demands.”
The doctors had embarked on strike on July 29 over poor working conditions, lack of equipment, and welfare issues. The industrial action crippled emergency and specialist services, forcing patients in Ogbomoso and nearby towns to seek care elsewhere.
ARD members said they expect Makinde’s intervention to pave the way for long-term reforms and a more collaborative relationship with hospital management.
“We look forward to a renewed spirit of collaboration with the incoming hospital board as we work towards repositioning LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in line with the governor’s vision,” the doctors added.
