Oluremi Tinubu: “Let us all play our part to build a Nigeria we all want to see. Your sacrifice will never be in vain.
As Nigeria marks 65 years of nationhood, First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to take active roles in shaping the nation’s future, insisting that sacrifices made for the country will never be wasted.
In her Independence Day goodwill message on Wednesday, marking Nigeria’s 65th anniversary, the First Lady reminded citizens that nation-building is a collective responsibility.
“Let us all play our part to build a Nigeria we all want to see. Your sacrifice will never be in vain. Happy 65th Independence Anniversary. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mrs. Tinubu said.
Drawing on historical reflections, she emphasized the importance of patriotism and selflessness in national development. Quoting Lebanese-American writer Gebran Khalil Gebran, she challenged citizens to prioritize service over self-interest.
“Are you a politician, asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one, asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in a desert,” she noted.
Senator Tinubu further urged Nigerians to see the 65th Independence anniversary not just as a time for reflection, but as an opportunity to renew their commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous nation.
