The Federal Government has announced that there will be no parade to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary in Abuja tomorrow.
The clarification came through a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Senator George Akume.
Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the OSGF, emphasized that the decision does not lessen the importance of the milestone celebration.\

“The cancellation is in no way a diminishment of the significance of this milestone anniversary, and the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” Imohiosen said.
He noted that other programmes lined up for the anniversary would proceed as scheduled, adding that government deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by the cancellation.
Imohiosen further assured that the activities would embody the spirit of national pride and unity, while also appreciating the understanding and cooperation of Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests.
He urged citizens to continue supporting the reform initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as crucial to the collective aspiration of building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.
