Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo praises President Bola Tinubu as the right leader for Nigeria during 65th Independence anniversary message.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, inaugurate the newly renovated National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, as part of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.
The $100 million facelift, funded and delivered by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Bankers’ Committee, is hailed as a landmark investment in Nigeria’s cultural heritage and creative economy.

In a joint statement, the CBN, the Bankers’ Committee, and the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy described the reopening as both a celebration of Nigeria’s cultural legacy and a platform for expanding opportunities in the creative industries.
CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, said the project’s significance goes beyond preservation. “This is not just an edifice; it represents our history and culture. The transformation of this landmark into a world-class facility is a testament to the Nigerian spirit,” he stated.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos also praised the project, saying: “The Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts (National Theatre) will not only showcase arts, tourism, and culture, but will also serve as a world-class venue for global conferences and performances.”
President Tinubu, who in July 2024 renamed the theatre in honour of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, will be joined at the ceremony by governors, lawmakers, diplomats, industry leaders, cultural icons, academics, and youth representatives.
