Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has appointed Mrs Fidelia Okpo Ene as the new Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in a move aimed at strengthening basic education across the state.
The appointment was announced in a statement on Monday by Linus Obogo, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Governor Otu described Ene as a seasoned administrator and “passionate advocate for quality education,” noting that her wealth of experience would be key to advancing his administration’s reforms in the sector.
“This appointment is in line with our People First agenda, as we continue to reposition education as the bedrock of human capital development. I am confident she will help us strengthen the foundation of learning for our children across Cross River State,” the governor said.
He charged the new SUBEB boss to lead with vision, integrity, and reform-driven zeal, stressing that his government is committed to building a stronger foundation for future generations through accessible and quality basic education.
