
The National Assembly has postponed its resumption from the annual recess, moving plenary sessions from September 23 to October 7, 2025.
The leadership of the National Assembly has postponed its resumption of plenary from Tuesday, September twenty-third, to Tuesday, October seventh, twenty twenty-five.
The decision was announced in statements by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, and the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, who explained that the shift is to allow for administrative and procedural preparations.
It clarifies that while plenary sessions have been rescheduled, committee activities such as public hearings, oversight visits, and other legislative engagements will continue.
The statement, titled “Reschedule of Resumption Date of Plenary Activities in the National Assembly,”

“I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, is postponed to Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
However, committee activities continue. All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are requested to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules accordingly. Any inconvenience caused by this rescheduling is deeply regretted.”
