The United States government has restated its commitment to supporting young Nigerians seeking quality education abroad, particularly those aspiring to study in America.
Speaking at the 2025 EducationUSA Nigeria Fair in Abuja, US Embassy Public Diplomacy Officer, Brian Neubert, said the US remains committed to empowering students, innovators, and change-makers through access to American higher education.
This year’s fair, themed “Empowering Futures, Discover American Excellence in Education and Innovation,” brought together representatives of 28 US colleges and universities, offering Nigerian students and parents firsthand information on admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and academic programs.

Neubert noted that the EducationUSA team provides free counselling services to guide applicants through the process and advised students to responsibly maintain their visa status if admitted.
“As you consider your next steps, know that you are joining a long tradition of Nigerian students who have excelled in US institutions and gone on to make significant contributions to their communities and the world,” he said.
The reaffirmation comes amid concerns raised in August by more than 300 Nigerian students who gained admission to US universities but faced visa delays under tightened immigration procedures.
Observers say the fair highlights the enduring educational ties between Nigeria and the United States, despite policy shifts and challenges in visa processing.
