
President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia on the occasion of his 50th birthday.
Tinubu highlighted the singer’s enduring influence on both the global music scene and national development efforts.

In a statement issued on Friday, by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described 2Baba as “a symbol of resilience, creativity, and national pride.”
He lauded his two-decade career for shaping generations and elevating Nigeria’s image worldwide.
For more than 20 years, 2Baba serenaded us with soulful melodies, inspired generations, and carried the Nigerian flag with pride worldwide,” Tinubu said
The President singled out 2Baba’s timeless hit, “African Queen,” as an international breakthrough that helped position Nigeria at the forefront of global entertainment.
African Queen’ remains an evergreen classic that introduced the beauty of African music to the world,” he noted, “placing Nigeria at the heart of the global entertainment map.”
Beyond music, Tinubu praised the Afropop legend for using his platform to champion social causes, particularly peace, unity, and good governance—an aspect of 2Baba’s career that has distinguished him among his peers.
