Hilda Baci marks her 30th birthday with reflection and gratitude after setting a new Guinness World Record with an 8,000kg Jollof rice feat.
Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has celebrated her 30th birthday with gratitude and reflection, just days after setting another Guinness World Record.
Baci, already a household name after her 2023 cooking marathon that lasted more than 93 hours, recently made history again by preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style Jollof rice. The feat, confirmed by Guinness World Records on 15 September, saw her and her team cook a pot weighing 8,000kg (17,637 lbs) in Lagos, attracting thousands of spectators.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Baci described entering a new decade of her life as a fresh start.
“This is 30, and it feels like stepping into a brand-new book, not just another chapter,” she wrote.

“I carry every lesson, every tear, every win with me, but I walk forward lighter, stronger, and overflowing with gratitude to God. The woman I’ve prayed to be is the woman I’m becoming.”
Her latest milestone cements her status as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s culinary scene and a global ambassador for African cuisine. In May 2023, Baci gained international fame after cooking continuously for 93 hours and 11 minutes to set the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The Lagos-born chef’s achievements have been celebrated across Nigeria and beyond, with many praising her for placing Nigerian food on the world stage.
As she steps into a new decade, her journey reflects the resilience and ambition that continue to inspire millions across Africa and the diaspora.
