The Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF) has reaffirmed its commitment to continuity and reform with the election of Endurance Ofem and Olumide Akintokun into key board positions at its Annual General Meeting.

Ofem, a former national team captain, secured a third consecutive term as Technical Representative, defeating Chineze Onwizurike by 30 votes to 6. His re-election, he said, underscored the trust reposed in him and a renewed mandate to strengthen Nigerian cricket.
I must say I’m privileged to be serving a third time on the board. It shows clearly the commitment I bring to the table,” Ofem said. He praised NCF President Uyi Akpata for being a transformational leadership.
In eight years, we’ve gone to two World Cups and the game is all over Nigeria. I find it difficult for anyone to say he’s not doing enough for cricket. To be serving on that board with him, I feel humbled and honoured,” he added.

Ofem also recalled achievements from his previous terms, including securing contracts for players, expanding international touring opportunities, and creating pathways in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Looking forward, he pledged to implement a “hub system” that will allow every region to access top-level coaching. “That way, development will not be limited to a few centres but spread nationwide,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Akintokun emerged as Players’ Representative with 37 votes, marking his first entry into cricket governance. His victory, he said, represents a push for fresh thinking within the federation.
I’d say I’m elated. You might not see it on my face, but deep down, I’m very thrilled to have gained this position today,” Akintokun said. “We’ve been doing the same things the same way, expecting different results. This shows the cricket fraternity recognises the need for new ideas and innovation so we can progress in the sport.

Akintokun promised to bring a mix of corporate administration, creativity, and modern governance into his role, ensuring players’ voices are better represented at board level.
The pair’s election is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s cricket ecosystem, focusing on player welfare, grassroots expansion, coaching standards, and international exposure.
With the nation’s U-19 male and female teams already competing on the world stage, the challenge for the new board will be sustaining momentum and creating stronger pathways for future generations.
