The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, has facilitated the safe return of 148 Nigerians from Sudan, as the conflict in the North-East African country continues to displace millions.
In a statement released on Saturday, NEMA confirmed that the returnees landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Friday at about 2:30 p.m. aboard a chartered flight operated by Tarco Aviation.

According to the agency, the returnees—comprising 25 men, 27 women, 39 male children, and 57 female children—were received, documented, and profiled by relevant authorities before being discharged.
The returnees were not enrolled in any reintegration programme and were discharged and giving them transport fare by providing them with ATM card for withdrawals shortly after the completion of documentation and profiling,” NEMA said, describing the operation as “well-coordinated and successfully executed
The agency added that the returnees were initially conveyed to Chila Hotel for documentation before being provided transport support.
This repatriation exercise underscores the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts, through NEMA and international partners, to monitor and assist Nigerian citizens stranded abroad due to crises.
Sudan remains mired in a devastating conflict that has destroyed infrastructure, triggered humanitarian crises, and forced thousands of foreign nationals—including Nigerians—to flee.
