Rivers Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, holds its first plenary today at 10 a.m. — the first since Tinubu lifted the state of emergency in Rivers State.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, is set to hold its first plenary session at 10:00 a.m. today, following the lifting of the six-month state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu.

The session, which marks a return to legislative governance in the state, will take place at the Conference Hall within the Assembly Quarters. This hall has served as the lawmakers’ temporary chamber since their official complex on Moscow Road was destroyed by arson and subsequently demolished by the state government.
Despite efforts by the outgone Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), to fast-track reconstruction of the bombed Assembly complex, the project remained incomplete at the end of his tenure.
Speaker Amaewhule is expected to preside over today’s sitting, which analysts say will be closely watched as the Assembly resumes full legislative duties after months of disruption.
