
President Umaro Embaló of Guinea-Bissau receives Nigeria’s Special Envoy, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, ahead of the 2025 West African Economic Summit in Abuja.
President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau has received Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who delivered a formal invitation to attend the upcoming West African Economic Summit (WAES).
The meeting, held in Bissau, was convened as part of diplomatic engagements ahead of the inaugural regional economic forum, scheduled to take place in Abuja from 20 to 21 June 2025.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu, serving as a Special Envoy on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presented the official letter of invitation during the visit. She described the summit as a flagship initiative of President Tinubu, designed to promote deeper economic integration and foster stronger intra-African cooperation across West Africa.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the envoy emphasises the strategic importance of the summit in advancing shared economic goals in the region.
President Embaló welcomed the invitation warmly, hailing the initiative as both “historic and visionary.” He pledged his country’s full support and confirmed his attendance at the summit.
The WAES is expected to attract leaders, policymakers, and investors from across the continent, positioning Nigeria at the forefront of regional economic transformation.
