The Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed 36000 personnel, including regular and special marshals, to major roads across Nigeria as part of a nationwide safety operation for the Sallah celebration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, FRSC Spokesman, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the Corps has also mobilised 750 patrol vehicles, 120 ambulances, 25 tow trucks, and over 200 motorcycles.
The operation, according to the statement, is aimed at ensuring the free flow of traffic, timely rescue services, and swift clearance of obstructions on critical corridors before, during, and after the festive period.
Ogungbemide added that the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, has directed commanding officers across all formations to ensure the 52 identified corridors are fully manned.
Also deployed are radar guns, breathalysers, and other logistics equipment to check road traffic violations, particularly drunk driving.
All Zebra emergency response units are expected to be on standby for rapid response to crash incidents.
The FRSC has warned motorists to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with road safety officials, stressing that Mobile Courts will be in operation to try traffic offenders.
Offences under strict watch include dangerous overtaking, excessive speed, use of mobile phones while driving, route violations, and illegal use of SPY number plates.
