
Police in Lagos have arrested two men accused of vandalising public infrastructure in the Ile-Zik area of the state.
The suspects, Peter James, 26, and Lesipi Adamu, 24, were apprehended on 22 April by officers from the Isokoko Division following a tip-off from residents.
They were allegedly caught removing iron rods embedded in roadside concrete barriers.
Tools Recovered
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said officers recovered two sledgehammers, two cutting saws, and a pair of scissors believed to have been used during the act.
He added that a manhunt is underway for other individuals who escaped arrest.
The suspects have been charged to court with conspiracy, theft, and intentional destruction of public property. The recovered tools have been entered into evidence.
Police Warn Against Vandalism
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the act, describing it as a threat to public safety and infrastructure.
He reaffirmed the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and public assets.
