
The Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, Hon. Moshood Kayode Akiolu, has emphasised the need for collective action in tackling corruption across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of government.
Speaking at a three-day national conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Akiolu stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, legislative reforms, and stronger oversight mechanisms to curb systemic corruption in public service.
“The fight against corruption requires joint efforts from all stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability in government institutions,” he said.
Also addressing participants, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo, described transparency as the foundation of ethical governance.
“Transparency is the lifeblood of governance. It strengthens accountability and empowers citizens to demand better from their leaders,” Dr. Kogo noted.
The conference, themed “Fostering Collaboration in Enhancing Transparency within MDAs”, brought together representatives from anti-graft agencies, civil society organizations, and the National Assembly.
While declaring the event open, the Akwa Ibom State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Uko Udom — represented by Mrs. Utomobong Inyang — reaffirmed the state’s commitment to promoting transparency in governance.
