
Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji has once again demonstrated her dominance in para-badminton, securing a gold medal at the 2025 Spanish Para-Badminton International in Toledo, Spain.
The world number two and Paralympic bronze medallist claimed victory over Turkey’s Halime Yildiz, winning in straight sets 21-7, 21-10 in the women’s SL3 final.
This marks her second international medal in just two weeks.Bolaji’s journey to the top began with a 2-0 (21-15, 21-8) win over India’s Sanjana Kumari, followed by another straight-set victory over Halime Yildiz in the third round.
She then secured her spot in the final with a 21-16, 21-4 triumph over Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyba in the semifinal.
Reacting to her latest feat, Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, praised Bolaji’s resilience and consistency, noting that she remains the only African player to win 12 gold medals in all international competitions played.
He described her success as a source of national pride, reaffirming the federation’s commitment to supporting her career.
Orbih also expressed excitement about the upcoming All African Para Badminton Championships and Abia International Para Badminton Championships, highlighting Nigeria’s role in promoting the sport across the continent.
The events, to be hosted in Abia State, will provide a platform for emerging talents and further solidify Nigeria’s presence in international para-badminton.
