The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has pledged to eliminate criminal elements exploiting the region’s rugged terrains to perpetrate unlawful activities.
This vow followed an intensive security assessment of high-risk areas, including Guzape-Asokoro Bypass, Kpaduma, Kugbo, Gbaglape, and Nyanya Hills, where recent incidents of kidnapping and violent crimes have raised concerns.
Criminal Hideouts
According to a statement by FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, on Saturday, CP Disu personally led a strategic security tour to identify vulnerabilities, map out criminal enclaves, and reinforce security measures to prevent further attacks.
During the operation, he was accompanied by senior officers and local vigilante groups, engaging community leaders and residents to devise effective interventions against crime.
“Criminal elements take advantage of isolated and difficult terrains such as Guzape Hills to commit unlawful activities, but we will not allow them to thrive. This proactive approach will neutralise their hideouts and strengthen security across the FCT,” CP Disu declared.
Tactical Deployment
As part of his renewed security strategy, CP Disu announced the deployment of additional tactical teams, increased intelligence gathering, and enhanced collaboration with local communities for swift responses to security threats.
Key measures include:
✅ Heightened patrols and surveillance in identified crime hotspots.
✅ Structural deterrents to block escape routes used by criminals.
✅ Strengthened community-police partnerships to improve intelligence-sharing.
Security Hotlines
The FCT Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities using the dedicated hotlines:
📞 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653
This decisive action signals a zero-tolerance stance against criminals in the FCT, reinforcing efforts to restore peace and safety across the nation’s capital.
