Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after a series of impactful engagements at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, where he showcased Nigeria’s vast investment opportunities and advocated for Africa’s economic integration.
At a high-profile forum titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets”, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and WEF, Shettima underscored Nigeria’s readiness to attract sustainable investments.
He reassured global investors of the country’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, emphasizing its strategic role in Africa’s economic transformation.
Highlighting Nigeria’s dedication to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Vice President emphasized leveraging digital trade to drive economic growth and projected Africa’s economy to reach $29 trillion by 2050.
In a series of bilateral discussions, Shettima engaged global leaders, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Botswana President Duma Boko, and WTO Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
These talks focused on strengthening intra-African relations and addressing pressing issues such as energy security, food crises, and ecological challenges. Strategic conversations with WEF President Børge Brende explored collaborative approaches to Africa’s development.
Upon his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Shettima was warmly received by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, DG FRCN Dr. Mohammed Bulama, and other government officials, marking the successful conclusion of a mission that positions Nigeria as a global hub for investment and collaboration.

This trip not only highlighted Nigeria’s economic prospects but also reinforced the nation’s pivotal role in driving Africa’s collective growth and integration.
