
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday, departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
According to his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will join world leaders, top business executives, and development partners to address the state of the global economy and explore strategies for improvement.
Key activities for the Vice President include bilateral discussions, seminars, and forums. One major highlight is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank and the WEF.
The workshop aims to attract capital to Africa’s frontier markets and promote inclusive, resilient economic growth.
A significant agenda point is the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, in partnership with the AfDB.
This initiative seeks to foster collaboration between public and private sector leaders to mobilize investments in the continent.Senator Shettima will also co-chair a forum, “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” to discuss leveraging digital trade and implementing the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol adopted in January 2024.
He will participate in a stakeholder dialogue titled “Global Risks 2025” and attend a dinner for heads of state, government officials, and business leaders, alongside other notable engagements.
Accompanying the Vice President are key officials, including the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi.
The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja upon the conclusion of his engagements.
